Making your own plant-based milks is actually quiet simple. All you need is a blender, ideally a high-speed blender and your ingredients. Cashews are soft and after soaking, they pulverize completely in a high-speed blender that no straining is needed.
Below is my basic cashew milk recipe or for an extra flavor and nutrient boost, try my strawberry, beet, rose milk version. This recipe was a big hit in a recent plant-based milk workshop I taught. Ingredients for Basic Recipe:

Sounds yummy! Where can I get beet powder and rose scented water? And once I have those, what do I do with them (besides this recipe, of course)?

Thanks for your comment Elaine and great questions! You can get beet powder at most natural food markets, herbal dispensaries or of course from Amazon. Rose scented water is available at most grocery stores (look at the international isle). I get both at Whole Foods or PCC. You can use beet powder to mix into your yogurt, add to your granola, smoothie, or make a beet latte for example. It adds a great color and extra nutritional punch. I use Rose water in my baked goods as for example my Pistachio cake (see previous post), would be great in your beet latte or mix rose with yogurt and honey for a tasty and nutritious dessert. Hope these ideas help ;)
